Cote News, NCIS News, Season 11  •  By  •  26 Comments

Posting this from my phone but I wanted it up as soon as possible. We are so proud of what you have accomplished on NCIS, Cote, and excited for what your future holds, even as sad as this is.

CBS has just confirmed that Cote de Pablo is not coming back for the 11th season of the network’s hit drama NCIS this fall, though she will appear long enough for her character Ziva David to finish out her storyline. CBS and producer CBS TV Studios said in a joint statement today that the decision was de Pablo’s to end her longtime run on the show. “We respect Cote’s decision, thank her for being an important part of the NCIS team, and for eight terrific years playing Ziva David”, the statement says. “Cote and CBS share a great respect for the NCIS audience, and we look forward to working with her and the producers on appropriate closure in this chapter of Ziva’s story.” De Pablo had been the only other cast member without a deal (it expired at the end of the most current season) after star Mark Harmon re-upped in February, an agreement that allowed CBS to renew network TV’s most-watched drama soon after. Season 11 is set to premiere September 24. Most of the cast’s contracts are on a different schedule, with only Harmon and de Pablo up the same year. Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, Brian Dietzen and David McCallum also star. Said de Pablo in her own statement today: “I’ve had 8 great years with NCIS and Ziva David. I have huge respect and affection for Mark, Gary, Michael, David, Rocky, Pauley, Brian, Sean, all of the team and CBS. I look forward to finishing Ziva’s story.”

This past season NCIS topped even NBC’s Sunday Night Football as TV’s most-watched series, averaging around 22 million viewers — up about 7% from previous season. It also ranked No. 1 in the 25-54 demo. NCIS is also licensed in more than 200 markets and ranks as cable’s No. 1 off-network drama in domestic syndication, boosting ratings for USA Network.

I am sitting here completely stunned….
I was just about to send you the article from eonline…. I am literally stunned. Well, if she is departing, we better be prepared to see Ziva die. I am stunned and in tears…. this is the most saddest departure on NCIS. Cote was amazing and we are all sad to see her go.

As for our site, we will see what comes in the future.

I’m feeling the exact same way. I’m trying to respect her decision to move on (which is very, very brave), while being personally devastated that such a wonderful character (and Cote) will be gone from NCIS.

It will be interesting to see what the future brings.

What if she doesn’t die… They could write it as she bacame te director of Mossad? Or maybe she went to a different agency?

I would be happy with (almost) anything that would leave it open for Cote to return in even a guest role.

I will miss Ziva very much. She has an accent that eveyone admired. Her relation with Tony was comical and great. Im hope they do not kill her off. It would good that maybe she would return to Israel to take her fathers place as the new leader AD THEN SHE CAN OCCAISIONALLY RETURN TO SHOW. That would be good

I agree…..I am also being very brave lol, or trying to be.

Seeing what the future holds will be interesting, but I am more than honored to still stay onboard here.

Does anyone else think that this might be linked to a desire to have children? CdP isn’t getting any younger and it is my impression that the show is averse to its female actors becoming pregnant. Just a thought.

I would just like to say that my friend Hannah’s life has been crushed and she is in a very fragile state right now. She is the biggest NCIS and Ziva fan I have ever met she has had a complete melt down. Although I am sure that Cotes reasons for leaving are just I would just like to acknowledge Hannah’s heart break.

I hope Hannah will be okay! There are a lot that are taking the news hard (myself included). 🙁

I just wanted to say that I’m extremely upset about Cote leaving NCIS. It will NOT be the same without her on there. And I’ll miss her greatly. I’ll definitely miss her Ziva-isms the most..about how she almost always got the American idioms not quite right and had to be corrected. 🙂 I would like to add that it has been an honor watching her I TV every week. Right now I’m numb about her departure and probably won’t feel it really until September 24th when the show premieres. This show has been a part of me for a while now and has been sort of a TV family for me..seeing Cote leave the show..*sniff* is like saying goodbye to a family member who is dying in the hospital!!
I wish you the best of luck with every future endeavor and am hoping to see you in any future TV programs or movies.

Oh no, this news makes me so sad!! (Not to mention the sadness of losing the hope of Tiva, ahhhh!)

I was truly hoping that CBS would offer her a great deal (aka, whatever she wants to keep her on the show! :).

I’m a new addict to NCIS, but regardless, this is terribly disappointing, I feel that she made the show what it is today! Cote, I wish you only happiness, and will miss your Ziva portrayal greatly! <3

I hope she gets a nice ending, and doesn’t die. Cause if she gets killed off, would that not mean her family has been eleminated from the show? The replacer of her is gonna have a hard time filling her spot! Ziva David u shall be missed !!

I was really shocked to read the news this morning. I still can’t believe that Cote’s leaving NCIS and that we won’t see her as Ziva David in the future. She was such a great asset to the show that I can’t see any way that the show will loose vital parts and viewers in this process. Cote got so much recognition and acknowledgement for her role as Ziva.

I totally respect Cote’s decision and am so proud of her work but somehow it doesn’t make it any easier to see her go. I’m sure we all will see her on other shows and projects in the future and I wish her all the best. But it’s such a shame that she won’t be on NCIS anymore. Let’s hope that her will get a happy end and doesn’t share the same fate as the other female cast members and the fans have chance to draw their own happy conclusion of the show.

Let’s hope for the best and see what the future holds for Cote and her work. I wish her all the best in the world and am really looking forward to her next project.

No, it doesn’t make it any easier at all. Cote playing Ziva on NCIS is why many of us became fans…and change is hard. It’s very bittersweet. 🙁

My read, based on what I know of her, is that she wanted more involvement behind the scenes, as in a producer role, which maybe something that CBS et al may not have been willing to budge on. Too many cooks already. Production capacity includes back-end dollars as well as her per episode salary.

Cote de Pablo is a BIG reason why NCIS is starting their 11th season. If the reason for Cote leaving the show is about her salary, and she is not receiving equal pay then WAKE UP CBS. Cote is not only deserves equal pay, she deserves much, much more!! How can you not see that! I’m a HUGE fan of NCIS, or I should say I was until this. Now I’m FURIOUS. If we loose Cote, than NCIS has lost me as a viewer. Watch the show go down hill and down hill fast. I just can’t believe it!!! I will be sure though to follow Cote’s career wherever she goes. Thanks for a job well done Cote. We love ya!

I am very sorry with the exit of Cote de Pablo of NCIS, after Mark Harmon is the more interesting personage. Brasil
