Former “NCIS” star Cote de Pablo is returning to CBS.

The actress has been cast in the network’s four-hour miniseries “The Dovekeepers,” from executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett (“The Bible”).

The project is based on Alice Hoffman’s historical novel about four women whose lives intersect in a fight for survival at the siege of Masada.

De Pablo will play one of those four women — Shirah, a “sensual, mysterious and fiercely independent single mother with uncanny insights and a quiet and mysterious power,” the network said. She is derided by many as the “Witch of Moab” for practicing forbidden ancient rites of magic and her keen knowledge of herbal remedies, but those in need don’t hesitate to approach her for her help and generosity of spirit.

“We are thrilled to have Cote de Pablo starring in ‘The Dovekeepers,’” said Downey. “Her talent, strength and beauty will light up the screen in the important role of Shirah.”

De Pablo starred as Special Agent Ziva David for eight seasons on “NCIS” beforedeparting the show last year. She’ll also appear in the upcoming film “The 33,” based on the true story of the rescued Chilean miners in 2010.

“The Dovekeepers” will air on CBS in 2015.

…I figured I’d start up a little discussion topic. It’s been one year since it was announced that Cote would not be returning as Ziva David on NCIS for the full season 11. Since then, she’s been involved in one project, The 33 (which we will hopefully have more news on soon!), but what other types of projects would you, her fans, like to see her involved in? More movies, another TV show? Any particular genres?

Maybe more music? (Yes, please!) Or a return to the stage?

Hello there! If you don’t follow us on Twitter or Facebook…well you should! There is sometimes content on there that doesn’t make it to the website, such as interesting re-tweets or shares of photos or information from other sources. Or we just post random gorgeous photos of Cote from our gallery!

Here is a quick round-up of some recent shares you may have missed:

@CotedePabloES posted a photo (that we hadn’t seen before) of Cote back when she was filming The 33 in Chile! It’s a bit older, but it’s always nice to see photos of her.

Sticking to Twitter for a moment, on June 2nd, Lou Diamond Phillips (one of Cote’s co-stars on The 33) posted a tweet that said that The 33 will probably be out this Christmas!

And over on Instagram, MichelleJonasDesigns shared a new gorgeous photo of Cote on June 3rd:

Carnegie Mellon University celebrated it’s centennial with a cocktail party at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and it looks like Cote attended! It’s great seeing her out and about and a huge thanks to @tellyleung for sharing the below photo:

Yesterday there was a rumor that Cote was to have a ‘voice role’ in the upcoming NCIS episode due to a listing on IMDB (while often a good resource, it can be edited and updated much like Wikipedia), so we were hesitant to post anything about it.  Currently, the website CarterMatt.Com is stating that it is most likely a prank.

You can read the full article on CarterMatt, but the pertinent points from the article have been quoted below:

Update: In doing some research, this is most likely a case of an IMDb prank. The information above is still interesting, and this is why we were hesitant to really report on something via such a listing in the first place. Keep this in mind in the future if you see a name of a surprising guest actor in any listing.
Update 2: Now, we’ve received pretty much confirmation that it won’t be happening. We’ll continue to point out these sort of rumors in the future, and offer possible analysis while always reminding you to never believe anything you see, even on a trusted site like IMDb, until CBS confirms it.

If anything else comes up, either way, we will try to keep you updated about it.

Update: A tweet from NCIS publicist Kristen Hall confirms that Cote’s voice is NOT slated to appear in the episode:

Basically all the information we already knew, but I figured I’d post it anyway!

Via Latino.Foxnews.Com:

The cast and crew of “The 33,” a film about the dramatic 2010 rescue of 33 men from a mine in northern Chile, said goodbye to the Andean nation as the phase of postproduction in Canada begins.

“It’s been a great experience and we think we have a great film,” producer Edward McGurn said in a statement to the press.

The movie, directed by Mexico’s Patricia Riggen (“The Same Moon”), tells the story of the mining accident that in 2010 kept the whole world in suspense: 33 miners were buried for almost 70 days by a cave-in down the San Jose Mine in the northern part of the country.

After a salt mine in Colombia was used to shoot scenes of the collapsed Chilean mineshaft, the cast, headed by Antonio Banderas in the role of the miners’ leader Mario Sepulveda, went to the arid north of this long, narrow country to shoot the outdoor scenes.

Actors like Juliette Binoche, James Brolin, Kate del Castillo, Federico Luppi and Mario Casas recreated in Copiapo, in the northern Chilean region of Atacama, what happened at Esperanza Camp, where a colorful, chaotic and at times solemn human landscape became engraved in the world’s memory.

The film is due for release at the end of this year.

Via an article (links to original article in Spanish), translated below:

The last scene of the film ‘The 33′, which began the process of filming on February 4 in Chile will be shot in the La Moneda next Sunday.

The team headed by the Mexican director Patricia Riggen agreed to work in the Government Palace last January.

‘It is in the Palacio de La Moneda, indoors. It is the Minister Golborne, who enters. It was important that La Moneda was present because it gives you a connection to what is happening, what the ‘ office’ thought about what happens in the desert. There’s a contrast there, moving from an interior under the mine to an outside in the Atacama Desert to an interior in La Moneda. I believe that this triangle works well and adds a little order to the scenes ‘, said the producer of ‘Gloria’ to radio ADN.

The movie stars actors such as Antonio Banderas, Mario Casas, Bob Gunton and Juliette Binoche, who began their filming last December, in Colombia. There were recorded scenes underground in a salt mine.

The shooting in Copiapo will end this Friday, March 14th, after a month and a half of recording in Chile.

Rest in Peace, Ralph Waite. We’re all so glad that we got to meet ‘Jackson Gibbs’. He had such great chemistry with Cote on screen.

We truly cherish the time we had with him. Our hearts and prayers go out to his loved ones.” He also recurred on Bones as the grandfather of David Boreanaz’s character, played Father Matt in nearly 100 episodes of Days Of Our Lives and appeared in Grey’s AnatomyCSICold Case and The Practice.

But Waite was best known as “Daddy” on The Waltons. He starred for nine seasons on the Depression-era drama as John Walton Sr., who eked out a living at the family lumber mill on Walton’s Mountain. He scored an Emmy nom for the role in 1978 and also directed more than a dozen episodes of the hourlong series, which ran from 1972-81 and was followed by a series of telefilms.
